About Me

Lucas Williams - Background

As a former NCAA baseball player, I experienced mental health and performance struggles throughout my career. From anxiety, the yips, confidence battles, injuries, and now the transition out of my career, I have firsthand experience of how a lack of mental health and performance resources can be debilitating to one's well-being and performance. On the other hand, from self-help literature to working with leading sports psychologists and mental performance coaches, I have also seen the positively influential impact mental health and performance resources can have, and the necessity for them to be implemented.

With an extensive coaching background at the collegiate, high school, and youth levels, I have served as a resource I wish existed in my career. This has included working as a Mental Health and Performance Coach for the Albright College Baseball Team, implementing Mindfulness Skills and Values-Based Goal Setting. Additionally, as a Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Development at Kutztown University, I have worked as an administrator implementing NCAA initiatives with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), as well as developing my own programming including "An Athlete's Guide to Mental Health and Performance".

I hold a B.A. in Psychology with Honors and Departmental Distinction from Albright College and am currently pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Kutztown University. I completed IRB research on the Perceived Effectiveness of Factors Related to Athlete Preparedness for my College Honors Thesis, which has helped inform my current practice. I combine my extensive background as an NCAA player, coach, and administrator with my education and research in Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling to formulate best practices for improving student-athlete well-being and performance.

Mental health awareness has increased, but action towards improving mental health has remained stagnant.

A lot of organizations talk the talk, but don't walk the walk, when it comes to actually implementing programming to address mental health and performance needs. Additional mental health and performance resources are necessary to improve student-athlete well-being and performance, and will ultimately reduce the need for resources in the future. Find out how I can improve your organization today.
